쉽게 사용하는 두가지 방법
1) 최소 기준을 말할 때
2) 안좋은 상황을 합리화 시킬 때
#1: 최소 기준을 말할 때 쓰는 at least (적어도, 최소한)
1-1 최소 ~는 걸릴거야.
It'll take at least six months.
1-2 비용이 최소한 $60는 들거라고 할 때.
It'll cost at least 60 dollars.
It'll be at least 60 bucks.
*cost 대신 be 동사를 사용해도 된다.
*dollars = bucks.
The inheritance tax will be at least six million dollars. 상속세가 최소 6백만 달러는 될거야.
1-3 최소한의 도리를 얘기할 때 쓰는 at least
Let me at least get you some bus money. 최소한 버스비는 챙겨 드릴게요.
Let me at least give you a ride. 최소한 제가 보셔다 드릴게요.
상대가 내게 전화도 안하고 stood me up (바람 맞혔을 때)
You could have at least called. 최소한 내게 전화는 해줄 수 있었잖아.
You could have at least texted. 최소한 내게 문자는 해줄 수 있었잖아.
#2: 안좋은 상황을 합리화시킬 때.
At least it was cheap. (품질이 안좋았지만) 그래도 가격은 저렴했잖아.
At least I came to class. 수업에 제대로 집중은 못했지만 그래도 땡땡이 치지 않고 온 것에 의의를 두며.
At least you weren't late for class.
At least I tried to help them.
We should at least try to get some coffee sometime.
