Lifestyles & Leisure Activities

Part1 (1/7)
What do you do in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy going to the cinema with my friends or visiting art galleries and exhibitions. These activities help relieve stress.
Part1 (2/7)
Do you have a busy social life?
Yes, it is quite busy. I usually stay at home during weeknights because I am tired from work, but on the weekend I like to meet up with my friends as much as I can.
Part1 (3/7)
What would you like to change about your lifestyle?

I would like to work only 40 hours a week. Currently, I have to stay at the office until late at night so I feel tired most of the time.
Part1 (4/7)
Is being late acceptable in your culture? [Why?/Why not?]
Being late is considered to be a little bit rude so people try to be punctual. However, it is inevitable that people will sometimes be slightly late so it is not a serious insult.
Part1 (5/7)
Are you ever late for appointments? [Why?/Why not?]
Occasionally I am late when I have arranged to meet friends if the traffic is bad. Although it is usually only by about 5 or 10 minutes so it is an acceptable level of being late.
Part1 (6/7)
What type of excuses do you think are alright for lateness?
Being late because of a traffic jam or family emergencies are acceptable excuses. Especially traffic congestion is notorious during the rush hours in Seoul.
Part1 (7/7)
How do you feel when someone is late for an appointment with you?
If they are only a few minutes late, I don't mind. But if someone is very late, more than half an hour, then I feel annoyed that my time is being wasted.

Part2
Describe a hobby you want to take up when you are much older.
what the hobby is/ what special equipment is needed, if any/ when you want to take it up (* take up = start)/ explain why this is a suitable hobby for older people

Now, I would like to talk about a hobby I want to start when I'm older.
The hobby which I've chosen is scrapbooking.
Very little equipment is needed for this hobby, just a notebook, glue and personal photographs. Since I enjoy being creative, I would also need art materials such as gold and silver glitter and highlighter pens to make the book look pretty.
The main purpose of scrapbooking is to document memories. I would probably start doing it when I have children so that I could collect and document moments during their childhood. Then we would be able to reminisce when they are older.
Scrapbooking is a suitable hobby for people of any age, but a particularly good one for older because it does not require any real physical fitness. Since this hobby is a creative outlet, it can reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease in older people.
That's all from me, thank you very much for your attention!

Part3 (1/4)
Do you agree that we learned best from my mistakes?
To a degree, I agree that we learn best from our mistakes. If we make a mistake, it is important that we don't repeat it. I think that it is possible to learn from other people's mistakes as well. If people see their friend make a mistake, it can be beneficial to recognize it and not do the same thing.
Part3 (2/4)
Can we gain life experience from books and movies?
It depends on which genre of books and films a person enjoys reading or watching. There are a lot of books and movies about real life situations which they could learn from. However, genres such as science fiction or fantasy are purely for entertainment and should not be taken too seriously.
Part3 (3/4)
Are the types of leisure activities that are popular today the same as those that were popular when your parents were young?
In many ways, yes they are. Popular leisure activities revolve around socializing which is the same now as it was when my parents were young too. Sometimes it could be socializing while playing a team sport such as football or badminton, while other times it might involve going to the cinema or enjoying music concerts with family or friends.
Part3 (4/4)
What types of leisure activities may become more popular in the future?
In the future, there may be more interest in spending leisure time with technology instead of with people. I think that people are already becoming obsessed with modern technology, such as computers and smartphones. But in the future, there will be even more choices of technology-related hobbies than what we have now.
